Chateau d'Eyran, Pessac Leognan, 2020
Country: France
Region: AOC Pessac Leognan
Alcohol Percentage: 13
Serving Temperature: 17
Château d’Eyran dates back to the 14th century. In 1796, the estate became the property of the de Sèze family, who still own it today. Since 1984, Brigitte, Stéphane and Charles Savigneux have overseen the restoration of the vineyard. The terroir consists of sandy gravel soils and gravel over clay-limestone subsoils.
Following hand harvesting, the wine undergoes traditional vinification, including extended maceration, temperature-controlled fermentation and frequent pump-overs. Château d’Eyran is then aged for 12 months in oak barrels.
Grape Variety: 50% cabernet sauvignon, 45% merlot, 5% petit verdot
Tasting Notes: This wine reveals a rich and expressive bouquet, with notes of vanilla, dark fruits and violet, complemented by elegant toasted oak aromas. A fine example of a classic Pessac-Léognan: a well-structured red wine with refined tannins and delicate oak notes.
